Service Agreement & Terms
These Terms govern your use of our services. By submitting your information, completing payment, or engaging our services, you agree to these Terms in full.

1. Service Overview
Compassionate Pet Transport, Inc. ("CPT," "the Company," "we," "us," or "our") provides coordination services for pet aftercare — including pickup, transportation, cremation coordination, cemetery transport, and in-home euthanasia coordination — in Southern California. We do not perform cremation directly. CPT is registered as a Deceased Pet Transport Corporation. All cremation services are carried out by licensed, certified third-party crematory partners.
2. Authorization & Legal Responsibility
The individual booking this service (whether the legal owner or an authorized representative) warrants and represents that they have the full legal right and authority to authorize the transport, cremation, aquamation, disposition, and aftercare of the deceased pet. You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Compassionate Pet Transport, Inc., its officers, employees, contractors, and partners from any and all liability, claims, damages, or disputes arising from a claim of ownership, lack of proper authorization, or right to control disposition. You confirm that you are legally and financially responsible for this decision and for all associated charges, and that all information you provide is accurate and complete.
3. Legal Status of Pets
You acknowledge that under California law, pets are considered personal property. Any recovery for claims related to services provided shall be limited as set forth in this Agreement.
4. Service Process
- • You must complete the required service information before service is provided.
- • You must follow all pickup, scheduling, and service instructions provided.
- • Once your information is submitted and services are authorized, services may proceed without further confirmation.
5. Pricing & Payment
Pricing is clearly displayed at the time of selection.
- • Communal and individual (private) cremation pricing is fixed at the time of payment.
- • Optional items and keepsakes must be selected before payment; no additional items can be added after cremation begins.
- • Cremation, transport, euthanasia, and memorial products are priced separately; selecting one service does not include others unless expressly stated.
- • By providing payment information, you attest that you are the authorized cardholder and that your billing information is accurate, and you authorize CPT to charge your payment method for the selected services.
6. Pet Condition & Access — Additional Fees (Important)
An additional fee of up to $150 will be added to your service charge, with no exceptions, if at the time of pickup the pet:
- • Is badly decomposed, including a heavy presence of maggots, ants, or other insects;
- • Has heavy bleeding, or requires additional sealing or special handling; or
- • Must be moved from a tight, confined, or hard-to-reach location, or a location that is otherwise difficult to access.
Minor conditions — light decomposition, or small amounts of blood or body fluids — are considered normal and are not subject to this fee.
If additional handling is required and the additional fee is declined, CPT will be unable to complete the pickup, and the service fee will not be refunded.
7. Identification & Handling of Remains
We use reasonable industry-standard measures to ensure that your pet's remains are tracked and identified throughout the process, including tagging, photographic identification at the time of pickup, and documentation procedures. In individual cremation, your pet will be processed individually, and the ashes returned are intended to be exclusively those of your pet. In communal cremation, pets are processed together without physical separation, and individual ashes cannot be separated or returned. While we utilize industry-standard tracking, minor, unavoidable incidental commingling of cremated material may occur due to equipment and processing limitations. Absolute separation cannot be guaranteed.
7a. Photographic Identification Consent
You consent to the taking of identification photographs at the time of pickup, including photographs of your companion's paws and full body, stamped with the date, time, and pickup location. These photographs are retained as part of the service record, are viewable by you on your status page, and are used solely for identification, chain-of-custody, and quality-assurance purposes.
8. Individual Cremation Disclaimer
Individual cremation is performed with the intent of returning only your pet's ashes to you. However, due to the physical nature of the cremation process and equipment, Compassionate Pet Transport, Inc. cannot guarantee the complete absence of incidental residual material from previous cremations.
9. Communal Cremation Disclaimer
In communal cremation, multiple pets are cremated at the same time without separation. No ashes can be individually identified or returned. You acknowledge that this option is a group cremation process and that all communal remains are disposed of lawfully and respectfully in accordance with applicable state and local regulations. This selection is final.
10. In-Home Euthanasia (where selected)
In-home euthanasia is coordinated through our licensed partner and is available within the partner's service area (currently within approximately 35 driving miles of Downtown Los Angeles). Two options are offered:
- • Scheduled: a licensed veterinarian comes to your home at a preferred date and time, which we confirm based on availability.
- • Urgent (additional fee): we arrange in-home euthanasia as soon as possible. If a veterinarian is not available on short notice (after hours, weekends, or holidays), CPT will pick up your pet, transport them to a 24-hour veterinary hospital, remain with them through the procedure, and then transport them to the crematory.
Preferred dates and times are requests, not guarantees, and are subject to veterinarian and partner availability. Cremation is billed separately and is not included in the euthanasia fee. CPT transports pets only and does not transport people; if you wish to be present, you are responsible for your own transportation.
11. Transport-Related Disclaimer
We handle transportation with dignity and care. Transportation times (including same-day pickup, where offered) are estimates only and may vary due to weather, traffic, volume, distance, third-party scheduling, mechanical issues, or unforeseen events. Compassionate Pet Transport, Inc. is not responsible for incidental deterioration of remains resulting from natural decomposition or conditions beyond our control.
12. Third-Party Facilities Disclaimer
Our services may involve third-party crematories or veterinary facilities. Compassionate Pet Transport, Inc. is not a crematory. All cremations are handled by trusted and certified crematory partners. While we strive to work only with reputable providers, we do not directly control their operations and shall not be held liable for their independent acts or omissions, except in cases of proven gross negligence by Compassionate Pet Transport, Inc.
13. Limitation of Liability & Emotional Distress Waiver
To the fullest extent permitted by California law, Compassionate Pet Transport, Inc.'s total liability for any claim arising from services shall be limited to the total amount paid for the services. In no event shall the Company be liable for emotional distress, loss of companionship, sentimental value, consequential damages, incidental damages, or punitive damages. You expressly waive any claim for emotional distress or sentimental value to the maximum extent permitted by law.
14. Cancellations, Payment & No-Refund Policy
Cancellations. You may cancel a booking by contacting our office at least one (1) day (24 hours) in advance of the scheduled service or pickup.
No Refunds. All services are final and non-refundable once payment is submitted, except as required by law or as expressly approved by the CPT office at its sole discretion. Services may begin immediately upon authorization and coordination. By completing payment, you acknowledge that services may begin immediately, that cremation cannot be reversed once started, and that no cancellations or refunds will be issued except as stated. Approval of a refund in exceptional circumstances is granted solely at the office's discretion and is not guaranteed.
Chargeback Waiver. Initiating a chargeback after services have been rendered constitutes a breach of this Agreement. You agree not to initiate payment disputes for services rendered, and to contact the Company directly for resolution.
15. Hold on Ashes / Return of Remains
You expressly authorize the Company and/or its crematory partners to securely hold cremated remains and keepsakes until payment is received in full. Final release of ashes is contingent upon successful full payment.
16. Payment Default & Service Modification
If payment is not secured within a reasonable time after notice attempts, you expressly authorize Compassionate Pet Transport, Inc. to modify the service from Individual Cremation to Communal Cremation. In such event, ashes will not be returned. The Company will make reasonable efforts to contact you prior to modification.
17. Retrieval Option
If you choose to retrieve your pet prior to completion of services, a $65 per-day holding fee will apply. All outstanding balances must be paid prior to release.
18. Collections & Attorney's Fees
If payment remains unpaid, the Company may pursue lawful collection remedies including referral to a third-party collection agency or legal action. The prevailing party in any action to enforce this Agreement shall be entitled to reasonable attorney's fees and costs as permitted by law.
19. Unclaimed Remains
If ashes or remains are not claimed within thirty (30) days after written or electronic notice of availability, Compassionate Pet Transport, Inc. may lawfully dispose of remains in accordance with applicable regulations without further liability.
20. Confidentiality
All personal information provided will be kept confidential and used solely for service provision or as required by law.
21. Communications Consent
By providing your contact information, you consent to receive service-related communications (confirmations, status updates, scheduling) by email, phone, or text. You may contact us at (888) 682-7872 or info@compassionatepettransport.com with any questions.
22. Image & Content Disclaimer
All images, photographs, and visual representations within the site are for demonstration purposes only and may vary in size, color, and appearance from the actual items or services provided.
23. Compliance & Regulatory Disclaimer
The Company operates in accordance with applicable California, county, and municipal laws. Legal requirements may affect timelines, procedures, or the return of remains.
24. Force Majeure
The Company shall not be held liable for failure or delay in performance due to events beyond reasonable control, including acts of God, natural disasters, government orders, pandemics, labor shortages, or similar events.
25. Disputes & Arbitration
Any dispute must be submitted in writing, and you agree to attempt to resolve disputes directly with Compassionate Pet Transport, Inc. before initiating chargebacks or legal action. Any dispute arising out of or relating to this Agreement shall be resolved exclusively by binding arbitration governed by the Federal Arbitration Act (FAA). Arbitration shall take place in Los Angeles County, California. By agreeing, you waive the right to a jury trial.
26. Survival of Terms
The limitation of liability, indemnification, payment obligations, chargeback waiver, arbitration agreement, and attorney's fees provisions shall survive completion of services.
27. Severability
If any provision of this Agreement is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
28. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of any updates.
29. Electronic Signature Consent
You agree that electronic signatures, digital acknowledgments, and clicking "I Agree" constitute legally binding signatures under California law.
30. Entire Agreement
This Agreement constitutes the entire agreement between the parties and supersedes all prior representations or understandings.
By clicking "I Agree," signing electronically, or engaging services, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be legally bound by these terms, including the Pet Condition & Access fees in Section 6 and the No-Refund Policy in Section 14.
