Open Now — About Compassionate Pet Transport

For the families who can't do this part alone

Compassionate Pet Transport is not a crematory. We are the transport and coordination service families turn to when taking their companion themselves isn't possible — because of size, mobility, timing, or because the crematory is closed.

And if you can take your pet yourself, we'll tell you so. It will cost you less.

Why we exist

The practical part is harder than anyone warns you

Almost every family discovers the same thing on the worst day: knowing what you want for your companion is one problem, and physically getting them there is another one entirely.

The crematory may be an hour away and closed until Monday. A Great Dane or a Cane Corso can weigh more than one grieving person can safely lift, let alone carry to a car. Someone may have no vehicle, or no longer be able to drive. Someone else is at work with no way to leave.

That is the gap we exist to fill. We come to you, carry your companion properly, and coordinate the whole arrangement with a licensed crematory — so the part you cannot manage alone is handled by people who do it every day.

We are not a crematory

We do not own or operate a cremation facility, and we never imply otherwise. We transport, we coordinate, and we stay with the arrangement until your companion is home. The cremation itself is carried out by a licensed crematory partner, and we tell you which one.

Said plainly

If you can take your pet yourself, you should

Our service costs money, and that cost is real. A family who is able to drive their companion to a crematory directly will pay less by doing exactly that — and if you call us and that is your situation, we will say so on the phone.

We are not trying to be the cheapest option for every family. We are trying to be the right option for the families who genuinely need this, and honest with the ones who don't.

Not sure which you are? Call us and describe your situation. If driving there yourself is realistic, we'll tell you — and you can call the crematory directly.

Who this service is for

When taking them yourself isn't possible

These are the situations families actually call us about. If one of them is yours, this service was built for you.

01

Large and heavy companions

Great Danes, Cane Corsos, Mastiffs, Shepherds. A dog who weighed a hundred and forty pounds in life cannot be lifted and carried to a car by one person who is grieving. We bring the people and the equipment to do it properly.

02

Seniors and veterans

Many of the families we serve are older, or living with an injury or a disability. Lifting, driving, and the trip itself may simply not be possible. That is not something anyone should have to apologise for.

03

No means of transport

Not every household has a vehicle, and not every vehicle is suitable for this. Rideshare is not an option. Without transport, a family can be left with no way to reach a crematory at all.

04

Work and timing

Pets do not wait for a day off. Crematories keep business hours, and so do employers. When you cannot leave and the hours do not line up, we go instead of you.

05

Nights, weekends and holidays

This is the core of what we do. When every crematory in the region is closed — a Sunday, a holiday, two in the morning — we still answer, still come, and still handle the entire arrangement until they reopen.

06

Families who would rather not

Some families are perfectly able to do this and still do not want to. Carrying your own companion to a car, then driving them there, is not something everyone can face. Wanting someone else to handle it is reason enough.

Before you choose anyone

Three questions worth asking — including of us

Pet aftercare is an easy industry to be confused in, and families are usually asking for the first time on the hardest day of the year. These are fair questions to put to any company you are considering.

Question one

"Are you a crematory?"

Many companies arrange cremation without owning a facility. There is nothing wrong with that — it is exactly what we do — but you are entitled to a plain answer rather than having to work it out from the wording on a website.

Our answer: no. We are a transport and coordination service, and we say so on every page of this site.

Question two

"Then where is my pet actually going?"

If the answer is vague, ask again. You are entitled to know the name of the facility that will care for your companion, and to know it before you agree to anything.

Our answer: we name the crematory partner handling your pet, with their address and phone number, on your private status page.

Question three

"What exactly am I paying for?"

Ask for the parts, not just the total. A single number tells you nothing about what is inside it, and makes two companies impossible to compare honestly.

Our answer: every line is itemised before you pay and again on your invoice — cremation, transport, distance, and anything you chose to add.

On pricing

What "free pickup" usually means

Crematories generally offer their transport partners a flat wholesale rate. So a company advertising free pickup has not absorbed that cost — it has folded it into the number you are quoted. The pickup is not free. It is simply not shown to you separately.

That is not necessarily dishonest, but it does make comparing two quotes almost impossible, which is usually the point of bundling them.

How we price instead
  • You see the cremation, the transport, the distance and any additions as separate lines.
  • You see them before you pay, and again on the invoice you can download afterwards.
  • If a line doesn't make sense to you, ask. We'll explain it, or take it off.

And the same honesty applies in the other direction: if the itemised total is more than driving there yourself would cost you, that is a real choice, and you should make it with the numbers in front of you.

What to expect from us

One team, one number, from the first call to the day they come home

We come to you

Home, veterinary office, or another approved location — including after hours, weekends and holidays.

A real person, every time

You speak to someone who can actually answer, explain the options, and tell you what happens next.

Identification at pickup

Photographs are taken at the moment of collection, stamped with the date, time and location, and kept on your record.

A status page of your own

Follow each stage, see the crematory partner, read your itemised invoice, and know where things stand without having to ask.

Southern California service

Serving families across Southern California

We serve Los Angeles, Orange County, Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura with deceased pet transport and aftercare coordination — including the hours when crematories are closed and there is nowhere else to turn.

We also handle transport to pet cemeteries, and necropsy transport for veterinary practices and diagnostic laboratories.

Tell us your situation. We'll tell you the truth.

If we're the right help for your family, we'll come today. If you'd be better off driving there yourself, we'll say that instead — and point you in the right direction.
